How to Find High RTP Slots: a Step-by-Step Check (2026)

Read the RTP in the game’s own information screen, compare it with the studio’s published versions, then use our database. 1,115 of 1,195 slots we track list a top RTP of 96% or more.

Key takeaways

  1. 01To find a high RTP slot, open the game’s information or paytable screen and read the RTP line; that is the figure the game you are playing reports.
  2. 02Compare it with the studio’s own game page. 58 slots in our database list several certified RTP versions, and the casino picks which one it runs.
  3. 03Across 1,195 slots with a published RTP, 1,115 (93.3%) list a top version of 96% or more, 482 reach 96.5% and 81 reach 97%.
  4. 04Casinos do not have one RTP; games do. A “high RTP casino” claim can only mean which games and versions that site runs.
  5. 05A higher RTP lowers the house edge over many plays. It does not make any single session more likely to win.

Short answer: to find a high RTP slot, open the game’s information or paytable screen and read its RTP, then check that figure against the versions the studio publishes on its own game page. A top version of 96% or more is common: 1,115 of the 1,195 slots with a published RTP in our database reach it, while 81 reach 97%. The catch is that many games are certified at several RTPs, and the casino decides which one you get.

Step 1: read the RTP in the game itself

Every slot carries its own rules. Open the game, then the information, rules or paytable screen, usually behind an “i”, a question mark or a menu icon. Look for a line called RTP, return to player or theoretical return. Some games show separate figures for the base game, an ante bet or a bought feature.

This is the figure that matters, because it describes the copy of the game in front of you. In Great Britain, remote technical standard RTS 3 requires information such as RTP to be accessible before a customer commits to gamble. Other markets set their own rules, so do not assume every site displays it the same way.

Step 2: check the studio’s own game page

Game studios publish their slots’ RTP on their own websites, and some list every certified version. Compare the figure in the game with that list. If the game shows the top version, you are on the best setting the studio offers. If it shows a lower one, the operator has chosen a lower setting.

Not every studio publishes the same detail. Our guide to which slot studios publish RTP shows where each one puts it.

Step 3: know the versions trap

The same slot can exist at several RTPs. In our database, 58 slots list more than one certified version, and 47 of them have a top version of 96% or more but a lowest version below 96%. Hacksaw Gaming’s Wicked Grin is listed on the studio’s game page at 96.27%, 94.32%, 92.28%, 86.28%: a gap of 9.99 percentage points between the top and bottom settings.

So a list of “96% slots” only tells you the best case. A slot on that list can still run at a much lower setting where you play. Our guide to RTP versions explains how casinos choose between them. By contrast, 1,068 slots in our database list only versions at or above 96%, so for those the published figure is also the floor.

Step 4: use the database to shortlist

The RTP database lists each slot’s published versions with a link to the studio page it came from, and each studio has its own page, such as Pragmatic Play or BGaming, grouping its games. Thresholds are a quick way to narrow a shortlist:

Table 1How many slots in the RTP Direct database clear common RTP thresholds, by highest published version (studio game pages, checked October 10, 2026)

The cut-offs thin out quickly. 96% is a low bar for the studios we track, and 97% is rare. The highest top version anywhere in the database is 98.60%. For the full ranking of slots that have a page here, see highest paying online slots.

Studio averages also differ. BGaming’s median top RTP is 96.88%, against 96.07% for Nolimit City:

“High RTP casino”: what the claim can mean

People often ask for the highest RTP online casino. The honest answer is that a casino does not have one RTP. Each game has its own, set by the studio and, where several versions exist, chosen by the operator. Two sites can offer the same slot at different settings.

A “high RTP casino” claim can only mean that a site runs the top versions of the games it offers. You cannot confirm that from a banner or a ranking. You can confirm it game by game, using steps 1 and 2. We do not inspect any casino’s configuration, so we do not rank casinos.

What a high RTP does and does not do

RTP is the share of total stakes a game is designed to return over a very large number of game plays. The Gambling Commission stresses that it is reached over many plays, not in one session. A 97% slot has a smaller house edge than a 94% one, which helps over a long run of play. It does not make a win more likely tonight. Our guide to whether 96% RTP is good for a slot puts the figure in context. Volatility decides how bumpy the ride is, and best slots for a small bankroll looks at lower-volatility options.

Method

Figures come from each studio’s own game pages, linked from the slot’s page on this site. “Top RTP” is the highest version listed. Database-wide counts cover all 1,207 slots we track, 1,195 of which have a published RTP; we link only to slots that have a page here. Set a limit before you play and treat slots as paid entertainment.

Questions

How do I find the RTP of a slot?

Open the game, then its information, rules or paytable screen (often an “i” or menu icon) and look for the RTP or theoretical return line. Then compare it with the versions on the studio’s own game page.

Which slots have an RTP of 96% or higher?

Most of them: 1,115 of the 1,195 slots with a published RTP in our database list a top version of 96% or more. Only 81 reach 97% or more. Our ranking of the highest-RTP slots is in the highest paying online slots guide.

What is the highest RTP online casino?

There is no single casino RTP. Each game has its own RTP, and many games are certified at several versions. A site can only be “high RTP” in the sense that it runs the top versions of its games, which you check game by game.

Is a 96% RTP slot a high RTP slot?

It is roughly average for the studios we track: the median top RTP in our database is 96.37%. See our guide on whether 96% RTP is good for a slot.

Does a high RTP slot mean I will win?

No. RTP is an average over a very large number of game plays. Any single session can end well above or below it.
